At Renaissance Environmental, we recognize the importance of reconciliation and the unique rights, knowledge, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples. We are committed to engaging with Indigenous communities in a spirit of respect, reciprocity, and collaboration — supporting self-determination and contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes.
How We Engage
Our goals to collaborate and worth with Indigenous communities spans several important areas:
Partnerships & Collaboration
We work directly with Indigenous governments and Indigenous-led businesses to deliver environmental monitoring and protection. We welcome partnerships and collaborations to support environmental stewardship.
Our goal is to build long-term relationships based on trust, transparency, and shared objectives.
Employment & Economic Reconciliation
We actively seek to employ Indigenous talent, collaborate with Indigenous professionals, and procure goods and services from Indigenous-owned businesses whenever possible.
Education, Training & Mentorship
We are committed to supporting the next generation through co-op placements, mentorship programs, and hands-on work experience — particularly for Indigenous students in environmental science, engineering, and related fields.
We aim to help build capacity and open pathways into meaningful careers in the environmental sector.
Environmental Services & Capacity Building
We collaborate with Indigenous communities to provide monitoring, environmental assessments, training, and technical support.
Our work is grounded in respect for Indigenous knowledge and a commitment to supporting community-led environmental stewardship.
Our Approach
We approach every relationship with humility and a genuine desire to listen and learn. Our engagement is guided by the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and British Columbia’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA).
We believe that strong environmental outcomes are achieved through respectful collaboration, shared decision-making where appropriate, and recognition of Indigenous rights and title.
